Mantras have been a part of my life for many years, but I only recently unlocked the full magic of this powerful practice! I have to share these discoveries with you because chanting mantras is such a simple practice that can help you raise your vibration in minutes.
Alejandro and I recently attended the Gayatri Festival, held by Grammy-nominated chant artists Deva Premal & Miten. I highly recommend listening to their beautiful music which enhances the depth and power of the mantras they chant. During the festival, for the first 40 minutes, I could not stop crying (happy crying!).
I felt I experienced the purest form of the Divine flowing through a human being. I realized the weight of the difficult emotions we are all storing inside from all that is happening in the world. I was deeply moved by how much we all need a reminder of the beauty that exists all around us.

This practice is not just to benefit the chanter, but all beings - since the energy of sound and of your intention vibrates out into the Universe. Think of it as a linguistic instrument that attunes you to the Divine essence within you. Whatever you feel you need Divine assistance with, there’s a mantra that can help!

It is ultimately a mindfulness practice to chant mantras. The Sanskrit root of the word “mantra” is “manas” which means “mind” and “trai” which means “set free from.” Essentially, mantra means “set free the mind.” Some interpret “trai” to mean protect, so a mantra is also that which protects the mind.
Chanting mantras rhythmically, in succession presents a mental challenge and helps you train your mind with patience. The repetition keeps your mind from wandering so you can remain present for however much time you dedicate to your practice. Mantras also protect your mind by clearing away negative energy with positive vibrations.
