Happy New Year!
The new year has a special energy of pure potential so I wanted to craft the first blog of 2022 to give you some guidance on where to focus your energy to have the best year yet. To do that, we look to the Divine signs all around us.
We will be exploring the Chinese zodiac sign and element for 2022 - discovering 5 ways to embrace your inner Water Tiger. We will also take a look at the numerology forecast for the year. Don't miss the info about my upcoming in-person class at the end of the blog!
Before we look at where we are going, let’s reflect on where we have been. We are coming out of the year of the Ox. When you reflect on your year, can you pick out any ox-like themes?
Maybe slow moving, strong, deliberate, steadfast, or prudent come to mind. It was certainly a year to “keep calm and carry on,” step by step, sometimes feeling the weight of the world on our shoulders. It was a year to rebuild or simply establish a starting point.
If you feel like your new year is off to a rough start - good news: you can celebrate the Chinese New Year on Feb. 1, 2022! That is when the year of the Tiger officially begins. It is time for the “roaring 20’s” to truly begin!
According to the Chinese zodiac, the element for the year is water - the element most connected to our emotions. A "water tiger" year only comes around every 60 years! It is bound to be a year full of strong emotions and bold leaps into new, uncharted territory.
1. Ground into your body and senses
We must start our Water Tiger journey from birth as a newborn cub because the womb is the water of life. When tiger cubs are born, they are blind. Their eyes don’t open for 1-2 weeks so they must follow the scent of their mother to survive until their sight develops.
In a similar way, you must learn to feel your way through the unknown of beginning a new year. The best thing you can do while you wait for your “vision” of the year to develop is get grounded into your body and senses. When you are consciously connected to your body - you will not only survive, you will thrive. You will also be able to hear your intuition much more clearly.

2. Go within and practice patience
Tigers are incredibly patient hunters. They lie in wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. Similarly, the beginning of the year is a great opportunity to dedicate the time and effort to setting yourself up for success. This forward planning process can be difficult for some. You may feel like a tiger pacing in captivity! Instead of focusing outside yourself on the “cage” of restlessness, go within and do some Divine inquiry.
It’s important to take time to tune in to what your soul wants to manifest this year and create a plan of action steps so your dreams can become a reality. Know that patience is key and soon enough it will be time to pounce into action and leap into new exciting ventures.
3. Get playful with your emotions
Although we think of them as land animals, tigers love to swim and play in the water. Since water represents our emotions, it can help to think about navigating those waters in a heart-centered, playful way. It's a great time to nourish and support your inner child.
When you seem to be caught in the rain of heavy emotions, imagine your inner child splashing in puddles with glee rather than feeling any fear of a flood of emotions. Remember, you are here to experience the full spectrum of emotions! Let them flow through you.
4. Embrace the softness and fierceness of the Divine Feminine
Tigers have soft fur and often act like cuddly house cats. But have you seen those teeth? They are fierce! This Chinese zodiac sign is known for its power, boldness, and courage. These qualities certainly call to mind the Divine Feminine.
Water is considered a yin element associated with the Divine Feminine. While water can evoke images of stillness and fresh, life-giving resources - it is also the greatest force of nature. It can go around any obstacle in its path and not lose its essential nature.
To go with the flow of the Water Tiger year, we must embrace time for softness and stillness while knowing we can summon our bold, powerful, strong will and fierce determination when we are faced with challenges. Balance is key!
5. Don't forget to cat nap!
Did you know tigers sleep up to 20 hours a day? They need their rest so they have the energy to expend on hunting and patrolling their territory.
Rest is so vital for humans and helps us create a healthy, balanced life. We have been socially conditioned to believe we must always be productive. This leads to physical and mental burnout.
Many people even feel anxious or guilty about taking time to relax. It's time to leave room in your schedule to unwind, prioritize quality sleep, and ensure you only agree to obligations you are in alignment with. Let this be the year you embrace resting and you will feel recharged and rejuvenated. It’s time to take care of yourself!
Numerology is an ancient art and science that can help us forecast the energy for the year by adding up all the individual numbers in the year to get a single-digit number. The energetic influence and imprint of that number will impact all of us throughout the year.
The Universal Year number of 2022 is number 6 with a strong resonance of number 2 because of the repeating 2’s in the number.
In this 6 Universal Year we are all being invited to take better care of ourselves and find balance in life that facilitates harmony and flow. This can involve focusing more on the home and your personal care routine. Make sure your surroundings inspire you and bring you peace. Take time to restore yourself with self-care. When you fill your cup first, you have plenty to pour for others.
That brings me to the resonance of the number 2. In numerology, 2’s are all about partnership. Finding balance in your relationships with giving and receiving may be at the forefront. If there are relationships in your life that no longer serve you, it is time to release that person and create more space for healthy, meaningful connections.
I hope 2022 is already bringing you peace, happiness, and fulfillment. I wish you and your loved ones a blessed year of health and success! May this Water Tiger, 6 Universal Year be the year you harness body, mind, and soul balance with love and care.
