Hello, I am so thankful that you are here for this podcast episode. My name is Elena Bensonoff – Quantum Medicine Practitioner, clinical pharmacist, and Health Expert. Today we cover a very important topic – we will discuss natural anxiety relief. I will explain why anxiety management is important and also give you some of my favorite natural anxiety remedies.

 

 

When your mind is feeling “off,” it becomes difficult to lead a normal life.

Chronic anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders can be completely debilitating.

Since cognitive and emotional symptoms can’t be easily “proven,” it’s often incredibly difficult to get answers or effective solutions from your healthcare team (other than the usual mind-numbing, symptom-suppressing prescription).

An astounding amount of people come to me because they experience those issues or other cognitive dysfunctions like unexplainable fatigue, memory loss, or brain fog that takes a toll on their relationships, career, and overall quality of existence.

One rainy afternoon, I received a call from a patient that I hadn’t seen in a while because of his hectic work schedule. He came into my office with extreme anxiety upon returning from weeks of business travels. His symptoms included: shortness of breath, pressure in his chest, and a racing heart. His anxiety was so detrimental that he was either going to see me or go to the emergency room. I told him that he should go to the ER if he doesn’t feel better after our session.

Within two hours, this patient’s anxiety vanished and he left feeling calm and at peace.

My patient’s anxiety was a direct result of self-neglect. It can be challenging to make time for self-care in the midst of an intense work schedule. When life gets too busy and routine-oriented, we miss the simplest messages trying to alert us. Our body is highly intelligent. It has the ability to communicate with us when something’s off balance. It is our own choice to slow down and pay attention to the signs and symptoms. Only when we listen to ourselves, do we hear what our body is trying to say.

The world has trained us to reach for the quick fix, like a pill, but what we fail to realize is that our ailments have deep emotional and physical roots that need healing.

 

 

How exactly can you go about finding relief from anxiety in a natural way?

One of the first things I teach my clients is the impact that inflammation has on the body. A diet high in sugar and processed foods wreaks havoc on our guts causing systemic inflammation. An imbalanced gut also blocks the normal production or flow of chemicals like serotonin, “the happiness hormone,” that is almost exclusively created in the gut. When the microbiome is out of balance, it negatively affects our mood, hormones, and neurotransmitters.

Choose supplements to support your adrenal glands. Avoid caffeine and other stimulants.

It’s also important to become mindful of your self-talk and other mental inputs like the social media you consume and the people you choose to share your energy with. Create a headspace that supports you and your mental health.

Incorporate meditation to get in touch with your inner self again (try my Relieving Stress & Anxiety Meditation). Remember that you have amazing creative and restorative energy inside of you already. Use your imagination to manifest the answers you have been seeking.

Chakra balancing is another natural ally. Light, color, or sound therapies can be used to open and align your chakras (or try my guided Chakra meditations). The throat chakra is often the blocked area when it comes to anxiety – corresponding with the thyroid which is the area that regulates our sense of security and communication. You can also support the throat chakra by using your voice to speak positive affirmations over your life. As we draw our attention to what we are grateful for and what we want more of, we create space for those things in our life. Use language that will steer your thoughts and emotions towards peace.

Anxiety doesn’t have to be debilitating anymore. If you are able to shift your perspective and listen to what your mind, body, and soul are speaking to you those old challenges will become doorways to a brighter future.
