Whole Body Health Begins In Your Mouth

health wellness Aug 01, 2023

Did you know your mouth has the second largest and most diverse microbiome in the body?

These microbes play a vital role, not only in your oral health – but in your overall health. Remember, everything is connected!

When the balance of the microbes in your mouth is disrupted by introducing chemicals like fluoride or heavy metals like mercury, it can lead to serious chronic health conditions. Many of us have been subjected to these substances because of traditional dentistry.

So, how can you optimize oral hygiene and avoid disrupting the balance of your microbiome?

That's where biological dentistry comes in!

I got to chat with world-leading biological dentist and ceramic implant specialist Dr. Dominik Nischwitz (aka Dr. Dome) in my latest Wholistic Wisdom Live episode. In his book, It’s All In Your Mouth, Dr. Dome challenges conventional dentistry and offers valuable insights for integrating natural dental hygiene into whole body health.

I'm so excited to share the best parts of our talk with you. Even if you can't watch the full hour-long interview right now, read on for the highlights from the interview, including:

  • The top 3 dental procedures that could be compromising your health
  • 4 things to ditch from your diet to help heal your mouth
  • Dr. Dome’s 3-step daily oral hygiene support strategy
  • Details about the next in-person Wholistic Quantum Healer class!

The Top 3 Dental Procedures That Could Be Compromising Your Health

Dental procedures can have a ripple effect on your health, and many dentists are not aware of the potential consequences. Biological dentists take a holistic approach to dental care and understand that the health of your mouth is connected to the health of your entire body.

Here are the top 3 dental procedures that could be compromising your health, according to Dr. Dome:

  1. Root canals: Root canals are a common procedure used to treat infected or dead teeth. However, Dr. Dome believes that root canals can actually be harmful to your health. He explains that root canals allow dangerous bacteria to grow in the mouth and spread throughout the rest of the body. As a result, you may end up with chronic inflammation, leading to a variety of health problems.
  2. Mercury fillings: Mercury fillings are composed of a highly toxic metal that can release harmful vapors into your body over time. These vapors can cause inflammation and other health problems. Dr. Dome recommends that you have mercury fillings removed as soon as possible, but only by a dentist who uses safe removal techniques.
  3. Implants: Titanium implants are a popular option for replacing missing teeth. However, Dr. Dome explains that implants can act as an antenna for electromagnetic waves, which can interfere with your nervous system. This can lead to symptoms including headaches, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. Your body can also become allergic to the metal implant as a result of your immune system trying to attack the foreign substance.

4 Things To Ditch From Your Diet To Help Heal Your Mouth

The mouth is the gateway to the entire gut, and inflammatory foods can harm the "good bacteria" in your microbiome, compromising your entire immune system.

These are 4 things to avoid as you heal your gut to support optimal oral/overall health:

  1. Gluten-containing grains
  2. Sugary processed foods
  3. Refined oils
  4. Conventional dairy

Dr. Dome recommends doing your best to eat as our ancestors did: a natural, nutrient-dense diet.

Dr. Dome’s 3-Step Daily Oral Hygiene Support Strategy

Dr. Dome emphasizes that the goal should be to never need chemical treatments in your mouth. He believes that by taking good care of your body, you can avoid the use of fluoride and other toxic substances.

This is the 3-step protocol he follows every day for oral hygiene support:

  • Step 1: clean your tongue with a copper tongue scraper every morning
  • Step 2: do at least 5 minutes of oil pulling with extra virgin coconut oil
  • Step 3: Brush your teeth with an all-natural toothpaste like hydroxyapatite 20 minutes after a meal

Dr. Dome also recommends optimizing your diet and lifestyle to support your oral health. This includes eating a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, and getting regular exercise.

By following these simple steps, you can help to keep your mouth healthy and your immune system strong.
